Have been thinking of reducing hair length as it’s nearing summer in my place and the temperature is rising. I generally choose a shorter(relatively) hairstyle during the summer and monsoon, because it feels cooler in the former and easier to dry in the second one.

Was thinking about it and remembered reading on how the hair on the head helps to reduce effects of UV rays. I don’t stay out in the sun too much, so likely not an issue for me.

Started thinking about what the range of best summer hairstyles would be for people of different hair type(straight, curly, wavy/inbetween both) etc. and asking about it here to see how/what other people on think about it.

Yes and no. I cut my hair once a year to donate it. It’s usually warm to hot year round (25-37c), with a couple months’ reprieve around december. I cut my hair around January or a bit earlier depending on temperatures.

The height of summer is torture for me because of the humidity frizzing my hair. I look as if Gimli was cosplaying one of Marge’s sisters.

I generally don’t get haircuts before and during winter, but once it heats up again I keep it short.

yup. My hair is dark and thick, so it soaks up heat from the sun and becomes physically hot during the spring/summer. So I keep it short for half the year and then let it grow more during autumn and winter.

No. I don’t think it grows quickly enough to be able to make a noticeable difference to temperature

My hair is thick and waist length. In the summer months I have to have it tied up somehow or I overheat, much to the annoyance of people in my life who like to see it down 😅

I’ve considered trying natural lightening techniques (some people say lemon juice, others in my family with similar hair say it works) to lighten it to reduce the heat. Maybe this year I’ll give it a go.

One other thing I’ll say is that if you’re already hot, adding volume makes it worse as it traps warm air

I cut my hair short. The only difference in winter is that my hair is 3mm longer. And paradoxically it shows a lot.

I usually keep my hair longer in the winter here in Norway. And as work frequently takes me to hot climate such as Saudi Arabia or Texas, I tend to get a haircut beforehand.

Only the hair color. Light colors during fall-winter, dark colors during spring-summer. I know the rule of thumb is to do it the other way around, but bleached hair is damaged and it’s easier to take care of and maintain during the cold months.
