Eww seppo military propaganda.
Make a movie where it’s innocent Iraqis trying to survive being murdered by the invading Americans.
based on the memory of the people who lived it.
Going to guess not on the memories of the people on the receiving end of American imperialism.
Frankie Boyle: American foreign policy is horrendous 'cause not only will America come to your country and kill all your people, but what’s worse, I think, is that they’ll come back 20 years later and make a movie about how killing your people made their soldiers feel sad.
Americans can make a Hollywood buck out of the most horrendous tragedy.
Just to play devil’s advocate: Make a Disney movie where it’s a bomb sniffing dog who gets separated from his handler and then runs all the way back to America to find her again. How could anybody be against such a heartfelt story about bomb disposal? Woof woof!
I have nothing against propaganda movies. Big military, big guns, lot of action. I enjoyed Top Gun and American Sniper aswell. It’s a movie afterall. Nothing to take too seriously.
Tell that to the half a million dead Iraqis due to a bullshit war enabled by a country of dumbarses fed a diet of war propaganda.
I haven’t watched the movie so I can’t say to what degree the movie covers what you’re saying. All I’m saying is that propaganda movies are not immediately bad. They can be enjoyable.
Most of these movies deliberately don’t cover the negative parts of the wars and only cover what’s relevant to the movie and audience. But that doesn’t mean they are an outright lie. For example, there was not much factually incorrect in American Sniper. They just didn’t show other aspects of the war and only aspects that were relevant to the plot. Turned out to be an entertaining movie that I wouldn’t have watched otherwise if it was depressing all the way through.
My point is that ‘enjoyable’ is glorifying killing of innocent people. The whole point is that you enjoy it and mindlessly consume it, so that you’re less outraged when you see it on TV.
It’s a movie made for entertainment. People are suppose to enjoy it.
As for the subject matter, it’s written and directed by a guy named Ray Mendoza and is based on his own experiences during the war when he served as a SEAL.
Not every propaganda movie glorifies killing of innocent people. Such a thing would make very bad propaganda.
Like the rest of the world doesn’t consume violent media/video games/music recreationally…
No?
