Between Armored Core 6 and Balders Gate 3 there’s even well made AAA games (Larian might still be considered AA but likely not after this.)

But I’ll get back to Dave the Diver someday.

It’s also possible that you’re just over video games and need something more to keep yourself stimulated

Tbh I find myself playing games that have high skill ceilings and beating levels/bosses feel like real achievements, such as Celeste, nethack, and dark souls.

      • Im opposite. I used to be very “Hardcore” in terms of difficulty and nowadays I’m just…

        Laid back.

I beat Celeste 100% in the past (5000+ deaths in Farewell, pure suffering) and nowadays when I replay it I enjoy it much more with assist mode turned on (90% speed and the double dash from the start)

I’ve never played a Fallout game, but am familiar with the basic premise and setting due to being trans existing on the internet. Where should I begin, and are there any important QOL or graphical mods I really should be playing with?

If you want to start with fallout new Vegas there’s a guide called Viva New Vegas which is split into two sections, the first being vanilla but patched (it’s a Bethesda game, so bugs are present and patched by the community) and the second being the “Extended” section which offers some QoL mods on top of the first section and offers things like better inventory management, sprint etc.

It also serves as a good base if you want any additional mods such as upgraded textures etc.

VNV also covers which mods to avoid due to the trouble they bring and it’s in a single playthrough (which can range 20-40 hours for me) I only crash 2-3 which is very good for Bethesda games.

If you’re on Linux, use this script to download MO2 into your prefix:

        https://github.com/rockerbacon/modorganizer2-linux-installer/releases

(The script is slightly outdated and installs an older version of xNVSE, the easiest way to solve this is to download latest xNVSE and apply on top)

        Enjoy the wasteland, courier.

Is there even such thing as a finished AAA game anymore? They all ship unfinished, every single one. I’m playing dying light 2 now, a year after release, a thousand patches, still buggy as hell.

Larian’s quality is clear in Divinity: Original Sin 2, which they made when they were a lot smaller team. They also started BG3 as a smaller studio. The key is not the size of the team but the commitment to release a finished, even if not yet perfect, game. The state in which the big AAA studios release games should be an unbearable source of embarrassment. Nope. As long as they make all the money, they don’t care about the quality.
