I managed to reach the end of reddit.

Since the algorythm change they did a few years back broke everybody’s home page (wouldn’t update), I started to hide every post I was done with (either finished looking at or ignoring). As almost all the subs I joined are taking part in the protest I ran out of posts to look at.

    /r/all is a bit of a cesspit and I wouldn’t touch /r/new with yours.

Morning! Time for our annual trip to ED with our toddler with respiratory issues, it would seem.

I really dislike how concern trolls manage to make it hard to be legitimately concerned about things. Like yes their “concerns” are pretty clearly a list of unsubstantiated talking points or “evidence” from nowhere. But because of the way they weaponize that stuff the people who have legit, non-agenda questions or concerns can’t raise them without being accused of being a concern troll.

There are controversial subjects out there that are not fully explored and not every person who presents with doubt about some particular idea or trend that’s gaining acceptance is part of the enemy.

There’s too many people out there who think questioning an ideology is the same as opposing an ideology.

When you have a more or less infinite supply of people working in bad faith, often from outside the community, packaged up as “just asking questions”, you don’t have a lot of room for discourse.

I was worried it was going to be a new culinary low but it is worth great pleasure that I inform you, leftover roast on roti with gravy and cheese is damn spectacular as a pizza!

Stayed in bed for an extra 15 mins looking through lemmy and ended up 30mins late to work.

Side question, why do people warm up their car? I turn it on and drive straight away, is this bad for the engine?

It used to be bad for the engine, but modern engines are less susceptible to issues from running cold. These days it’s about not getting into an icy cold metal box, and defrosting the windows.

I did that this morning because it was a frost, starting it and letting it run with the heater on means the windscreen will start to defrost while you’re getting ready. It also means the car is warm when you get in it.

If you live right next to a high speed road, starting the vehicle and immediately giving it full beans to merge into high speed traffic isn’t ideal, otherwise it doesn’t really make much difference.
