I liked it my parents didn’t.

Yep, I had the exact same experience. With the twist right before the end, I was like “ohhhh shit it’s about to get crazy!” Then BAM, credits.

I loved Into the Spider-Verse. I liked Across the Spider-Verse. The ending was just too abrupt. I’m generally ok with a movie or TV show ending on a cliffhanger without everything being resolved. (e.g. The Empire Strikes Back or 10% of all TV episodes in the 80s) But that usually means coming to the end of some sort of arc.

Everyone I’ve talked to (including my mom) has basically said the same thing.

I reeeeeally like the first 2/3rds of the movie that I saw. I can’t wait to see the latest 1/3rd when the next part comes out!

I just got home from seeing it for the first time and loved it! The animation was absolutely incredible; they’re giving Pixar a run for their money especially in terms of movie quality. The dialogue was fun, plot kept me guessing, and I really enjoyed the set pieces.

The cliffhanger was meh. I’m stoked for the next movie, but I do wish they would have resolved at least one of the plot threads. The only thing close to a ‘resolution’ was Gwen getting her squad together so the audience has some sort of hope.

I feel like cliffhangers are becoming more and more common: first Fast X and now Spiderman… Really annoying, but I do prefer this than for the whole plot to be stuffed into a certain time limit & the quality plummeting.

Seems Mission Impossible is also a two-parter. But they’ve put it in the title this time, instead of surprise-cliffhang us like your two movies.

I liked the artistic direction on things, the differing colour schemes for each universe were super cool!

Whaaaat how could they not, it was amazing. Super exciting, spirit beautiful visually, quick-paced, well-metered plotwise, I literally exclaimed out loud to myself how good it was. And I liked the first one fine, but this one knocked me on my ass.

My parents thought the plot was too repetitive with Spiderperson saving enemies in the nick of time.

All action movies are about beautiful violence. I didn’t like the need for superpowers and looking cool.

I noticed a lot of the action moments were really close up, so it was hard to reference to the establishing shots.

I really liked how they used different animation styles to distinguish entities from different universes. You even see it in the way Miguel’s armor is slightly different style than his face.

As always, animation was superb, loved the use of different styles and effects. The story albeit a bit long and ending with a cliffhanger was cool, liked the villain slightly goofy origin story. And in the soundtrack department, I thought it was cool just not as cool as Into the spiderverse. Hope they knock it out of the park for the next one.
