I close the video if the title looks interesting to me but the first thing I see when I click it is someone talking at the camera instead of the thing that made me click on the video.

I think this is more common than one would think. Most female content creators that DO get male viewers gets sexualised and the comments are always such a mess.

I actually had that conversation with my girlfriend this week. She does not watch any women on YouTube and I only occasionally do. Gabi Belle, Simone Giertz and Physics Girl are the only women I watched like ever

It’s a male dominated space. It makes sense that a large portion of you watch history would be male.

Only people who subscribe to specific things would see more female YouTubers, for example, makeup tutorials or ASMR videos.

It’s the same with me, probably because I watch a lot of geeky content. The only female creator I can think of is Freya Holmer
(who you should definitely check out by the way, her videos on splines are very interesting and well made)

If it’s geeky content you want, Dr. Angela Collier is currently my favorite youtuber. My favorite video of hers is one where she makes fun of Gwyneth Paltrow for putting lemon juice in alkaline water, then spends an hour explaining why exactly it’s funny that Gwyneth Paltrow put lemon juice in alkaline water.

There’s also Answer In Progress if you’re into a wide assortment of surface level knowledge, Sabine Hossenfelder if you’re into physics, Emma Thorne if you’re into atheism, Up and Atom if you’re into math, and I feel like ass because I can’t bring to mind any other specific female youtubers

I watch tech stuff and like Lisa from Mobiletechreview. I think a lot of the other female tech reviewers like ijustine have no independent thought.

iJustine has always been a terrible content creator with no brains in her head whatsoever, I wish she hadn’t gotten such an early start because it definitely contributed to setting the trend that if you look even moderately attractive you can post complete garbage and amass a following.

Same. I thought I was stepping on eggshells with this comment. She has no idea what she’s talking about and I feel like her audience watched her for eye candy.

I watch lots of animation content by woman, but almost nothing hosted by woman. Barbara Dunkelman and Alanah Pearce are the only two that comento mind and I haven’t watched their stuff in years. I wonder why.

I watch Gutsick Gibbon but I’m struggling to think of really anyone else. I’m the same way with audiobooks. I can’t take an AB seriously that’s narrated by a woman

I feel male creators tell you a lot less about their life than women do. I like Simone, but she does tend to tell you about everything happening in her life.

Jenny Nicholson was pretty funny, she’s almost off YouTube now. I do avoid creators with anime avatars though
