The US intelligence community assesses Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s “viability as a leader” to be “in jeopardy,” according to its annual report on the national security threats facing the United States that was presented to Congress on Monday.

“Distrust of Netanyahu’s ability to rule has deepened and broadened across the public from its already high levels before the war, and we expect large protests demanding his resignation and new elections,” according to the report. “A different, more moderate government is a possibility.”

Wait a minute. So you’re telling me bibi was hoping for the good 'ol wartime bump in support and a distraction from his corruption charges and thus may-or-may-not have waved away detailed intelligence reports of an impending attack…?

    Color me just shocked.

The attack has benefitted both sides in a very cynical way. Netanyahu’s reaction has made Israel much more isolated internationally and if any Palestinians make it through all this, they will be even more likely to support a violent and extremist organization like Hamas.

It’s a win-win for Netanyahu and Hamas and a huge lose-lose for both Israelis and Palestinians.

I suggested this to a friend pretty much as soon as the war started, and I was called a conspiracy nut. Glad there are others who think similarly.

Right? Christ, it doesn’t take a whole lot of ink to connect those dots. Any rational person observing someone obsessed with power and already proven to be corrupt recognizes this is a classic of megalomaniacs. Your friend was being obtuse and deflecting.

Seems like they should just chuck him to the ICC and when he’s hanging by the neck in The Hague, the corruption charges will be moot.

Don’t threaten me with a good time!

Seriously tho, I’m scared to get my hopes up. Their wording is kinda nebulous to me, and villains always seem to prosper in this timeline

Yes!! Everyone is seemingly forgetting the fact that this ass hat is under investigation for very serious corruption charges. This war makes him important enough that people are looking the other way.

I wonder if he’s behind 10/7. israel did fund hamas as recently as 2018 and they did put them in charge of gaza to displace the PLO

Directly, no. Indirectly, he and his party absolutely created the conditions that lead to the current situation.

After all, why start a war, when you can get your target to start one for you so you can play the victim?

Yes and no. Netanyahu is accurately representing his voter base (and the Israeli public as a whole), the whole corruption nonsense aside. Israel just has that many people who want genocide.

Here’s an idea: maybe it’s time for Trump, Biden, Netanyahu and the lot to step aside and let a new generation of people lead, for a change. Always the same yahoo’s, either abusing power, or perpetuating outdated policies of a bygone era. Or worse, both at the same time.

Ya know, it’s possible for young people to be dickbags too. It’s worth a shot but idk that it would change much. These positions appeal to a certain type of person.
