Security services know this that’s why persons of interest are advised to wear bulletproof vests. I am guessing Trump is wearing one so had the shooter tried to aim for the torso, that would have been more embarrassing than near-missing Trump to the head.

Tbf, when one says “shooting” it conjures up images of an active shooter scenario. What happened was more aptly described as an assassination attempt. Target (trump) wounded (barely), one (or possibly two) bystanders dead, shooter dead.
