Of course, ice cream was involved.

President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill, hosted a thank you event on Thursday for hundreds of staffers who worked on the reelection campaign that he chose to exit nearly three weeks ago.

Judging by the security tents, the location offered a dose of political nostalgia: The staffers met with Biden at The Queen, a music venue that played a critical role in his successful race for presidency in 2020, when he often spoke to the public from the theater’s stage.

After having dropped out of the race, Biden wanted to show his appreciation for the staff’s work over the past year and their continued efforts in support of Vice President Kamala Harris, who succeeded him as the Democratic nominee. That’s according to a person familiar with the president’s plans who shared details of the events but insisted on anonymity to discuss the arrangements.

The event featured food and, naturally for Biden, his beloved ice cream.

I have never met a lactose intolerant person that didnt, upon mentioning it when they inevitably buy something full of lactose, look me dead in the eye and confirm their terrible intolerance before going into a frightening lactose-consuming frenzy that chilled me to my very core.

They know the price they must pay. They laugh at death and spit in the face of genetics. A grim, dangerous people, the lactose intolerant.

Our college president through one every year at start of term. Thing was… Ice cream, Mac and cheese, and kettle corn are the three foods I always see people break their cliques to have together. People just… Fucking love ice cold dairy carbs, hot gooey dairy carbs, and sugar coated kettle carbs. Doesn’t matter if you necessarily know who’s serving them, or anyone else who’s going, people turn out for that shit. More so than even music or dancing.

Man actually. Now you’re making me want to have a potluck / potlatch (depending on your region) art event where everyone just brings Mac and cheese. Not even as a competition. Just come down to the municipal park, bring some Mac and cheese, and participate in a drum circle or a poetry reading or play a banjo. Everyone come have gooey dairy carbs and enjoy each others company

There’s nothing inherently wrong with it, but it is rightful commentary about how old Biden is and how it was just time for him to hang up the hat. Thankfully he was thoughtful enough to do the right thing.

Also, I’m certain the ice cream social is partly in jest and a sign that the President can call a spade a spade, even if at his own expense. The best way to accept criticism is to admit it and lean into it. His competitor cowers at opportunities that Biden regularly seizes. Biden still has many great qualities.

People in here eating up propaganda like it’s ice cream.

Apparently I’m the only one that remembers Biden loudly declaring “I’m not going anywhere!” right after he completely choked in that debate.

He was forced out. I really wish people would stop acting like he’s some kind of a hero. People would still be trying to convince us that he’s not too old if the DNC hadn’t straight up forced him out.

And here, dear readers, is a wild someone angered by the state of everything today. They no longer can believe good people exist and, even making an exception for the bad, that good choices can be made. So they seek out truths that match their perspective and attempt to mold in reasons that don’t quite fit what they’re trying to say. Moreover, they forget that at the end of any single day a good choice was made, which is sort of the point.

Oh, and news flash, we are in an exceptionally low point in American history. Everything is actually falling apart. You think that having the oldest president ever who is clearly just a puppet is a sign of political health? And he’s supposed to be the good guy?

Get real. There are a number of serious crises looming over the American people and our government is too concerned with lining their own pockets and making corporations more important than voters, and we are doing nothing about it.

He originally said he’d be a one term president. He only changed that stance when he believed staying in the race was necessary to beat Trump. Once it was clear that he wasn’t the best candidate to defeat Trump, he stepped aside and immediately and publicly backed Kamala. How hard is this to understand? Not hard at all, which is why I think you’re full of shit.

            Excellent answer.

Whether it was planned or just fell out this way, this is probably the best outcome we could hope for. Trump and Putin and their assortment of flying monkeys were lining up the ‘he’s just OLD’ attacks, hoping to ride that into the White House in January. Then Biden withdrew and now the ‘he’s just OLD’ points right back at Trump.

Shitheads like abracaDavid above keep harping on Biden’s age when Biden’s not even in the race again really makes me question how much the attacks against Biden were astroturfed by Trump and Putin (but I repeat myself).

It’s getting so bad for Trump that he’s out there fanning conspiracy theories during his monthly rally (singular) that Biden is going to put himself back on the ballot at the DNC. This all just sounds like a bunch of wishful thinking from a loser who wishes he were still competing against another old guy. Trump can’t even keep up with Harris and Walz, which is why he has Peter Thiel’s blood boy out there doing most of the campaigning. Sad and weird.
