Super easy for the technologically illiterate to have their pornography displayed front and center for all your co workers to see which will never not be funny

      Idk…

Depends on preference but I usually go for bread with more fiber cause after eating this you will be hungry again in 20mins.

But at least there arent many holes the size of our solar system so you can spread the butter/margarine quite nicely.

These types of posts just remind me how bad people are at using computers.

Ive used windows 11 since it came out. I disable onedrive on the same day. I have never, ever seen this bullshit.

There’s something that strikes me as fundamentally hilarious that “good with computers” in the Windows world means “disabling all of Windows’ pushy services that rip control from the user and sell their data.”

Like “I think I’m pretty good with computers!”

“Oh yeah? How much of Windows have you managed to sabotage so it stays out of your way?”

LMAO . It could be such a good OS but its dark and anyi-patterns are truly bizarre.

i’m baffled by people who use one drive, especially in its default setting where it saves all your shit in the cloud. Even if they have a perfectly stable Internet 24/7, do they not feel weird having a company keep their files on some drive they’ll never see? do they even know this is what’s happening?

Some employees create sym links in their OneDrive folder back to other folders… Instant VC for all those pesky junk files

It’s not just some drive, it’s one drive!

do they even know this is what’s happening?

        Take a wild guess…

Your average pc/tech user is so far removed from having or needing any tech knowledge. Convenience is everything. As long as it works, who cares how it works… and that’s how we ended up with basically everyone walking around with devices in our pockets that can track our location in real time, have microphones which are always on and listening, with cameras that point directly at our faces when we use said devices.

Is cloud storage a new concept to you? Have you not heard of iCloud or Google drive? Cloud backups make a lot of sense for a lot of people. Just don’t put sensitive information on there.

why would i trust a company with my files when i can simply make my own backups on my own disks without having to pay ransome (subscription) to access my things

My own disks won’t survive the house burning down, and while obviously feasible, aren’t accessible when I’m not home. I don’t need it often, but sometimes I do. But the extra safety of a cloud disk is nice.

Not shilling but this is exactly why 3rd party services like iDrive are good: Cloud backup but you have the choice of keeping your own encryption key.

Apple, M$, Google, are all like “just trust me bro BTW a big chunk of our business is data sales” lol

You should put files on the cloud that meet the two following criteria:

            1. Valuable to you
            2. Not valuable to other people

This could include your hobbyist cad drawings, your twilight fan fic, or anything else that you need or don’t want to lose but has very little value to bad actors.

Just doing the lords work and spreading the news of W11 IoT Enterprise LTSC. It only has Defender and Edge; no Xbox, App Store, Copilot, nor Recall, or any other bloat. Perfect for gaming. Don’t waste your time looking for it on sites like massgravedotdev.

As a Linux user for over two decades; oh the irony.

I couldn’t resist. Don’t take it too seriously, although windows 11’s DE mashup of Windows, KDE, Gnome, and Mac is sort of hilarious to see.

No high horse. At least no higher than “I disable one drive, unlike those pleebs!”

Come on… I am not being terribly serious, but the logical thing is not disable One Drive, but avoid the bullshit all together if you are going down that road.

Can we have one mention of windows or macOS without someone coming shilling Linux all smug and superior?

I’m extremely tech savvy, a software engineer and nerd of decades, so I got sick of seeing all the Linux stuff and decided to wipe windows last week.

Installed fedora, set up networking and then the Nvidia Proprietary drivers and did whatever it needed to do with secure boot.

Powered off and on and boom no network connectivity at all and not sure what happened.

Suffice to say it piqued my inner nerd and I’ll put hours into setting this up again as it’s fun, I’ve gone Arch btw, but let’s not pretend that the average user is going to have an easier experience than they would on windows or Mac.

There was a dude who posted like 3 pics of his totally wrecked car on Facebook.

He then got the “memories” reel with a catchy melody and the same 3 pictures of the fucked up car rotating in and out.

For me OneDrive “memories” are from my wallpaper folder or Xbox screenshots.

Google “memories” are food diary photos (on days when my food budget is spent, Google loves to show me photos of the massive pizzas I ate years ago, because it knows) or random sunsets. (Except for that photo collage with cheery music from my grandma’s funeral. Why did it have to do that specifically. Just asking.)

That’s hillarious. I get site inspection photos. It always makes me laugh when Google photos asks me if I remember this random sandy lot from 5 years ago. No I don’t google photos no I don’t. The future is so dumb and I love it.

I took photos of where I parked my car, as it was a quite big multi store garage and I used my xar only once a week. Got a cute collage of 5 cars with flowers one day 💓 do you remember?

I expect my laundry from 5 years popping up on my toaster in the future.

Better than Facebook - I had to delete my account and start over cause it kept showing me memories with my ex and old holiday photos. Cause that’s what people need - a reminder of their time in hell.
