PTB, but also saying something like “You’re either for USA and against Russia or vice-versa” is campist shit.

But that’s how USA treats the world. It’s not wrong. Acknowledging this isn’t agreeing with it.

I’m describing the current worldwide scenario where you are either a friend of USA or a enemy. As far as i’m aware there aren’t any russian military bases in europe on the other hand there are hundreds americans. Germany has 40. Name a single popular party in europe who has actual plans to kick the US army from their territory in favor of russia.

Why would anyone have to be in favor of Russia if they’re against USA? Russia is not even as prosperous as Singapore! People can and are aligning with China, but obviously this doesn’t require them to be against USA as well.

Likewise, for online armchair pundits, one does not have to be supporting either one.

People are for the USA for reasons and against Russia for other reasons (typically their invasion of a sovereign nation in Europe). Plenty of EU nations were having positive relations to Russia before that. It’s an inane take.

Hmmh. I think I’d have deleted your comment as well, claiming it’s politicians’ job to lie and that you can’t be anything than with one side or an enemy. That’s kind of propaganda talking points and not really true or as simple as you make it to be. So it’d fall under the category of misinformation. But I think the 14 days timeout is way too much for that. They should have just removed the comment. And mabe the other one with unsubstianted claims about how much the USA spends on propaganda. But half of that is correctly phrased as an opinion, so it also doesn’t really warrant a long temp-ban either.

Name a single politician in power who has never lie publicly.

Whether they lie or not is not the point. You stated that it was their job to lie.

The late Gregor Gysi? Idk, maybe not a good example. Alexander Van der Bellen? But that wasn’t your claim. Plus it wasn’t the context. You kinda said their main job is to lie to people. When in reality their job is to do politics by definition. That might include lying, sure. But as a general claim, it’s wrong. It’s a concequence of some dynamics. Not their job description.

    PTB.

I don’t think having a simplistic or misinformed personal opinion is the same as misinformation. Context made it very clear this was your personal opinion. But not surprising from feddit.org at all.

Yeah it’s hilarious how this place is full of posts about russian/chinese disinfo… And also unironically full of posts from VOA, NYTimes, WaPo, Radio Free Europe, etc.

For anyone wondering how western propaganda and disinformation work here’s a clear example of someone brainwashed by it silencing the slightest unaligned critical words

In don’t agree with you but you shouldnt be banned for expressing a dissenting opinion. However social media is generally an echo chamber so I’m not surprised we see the same thing happening on Lemmy as happens elsewhere.
