Canada should coordinate with the Hague. Invite trump to Canada at the same time the ICC issues a warrant.
Hasn’t Trump already said this? This isn’t the press sec saying anything Orange Mussolini hasn’t already been explicit about. It’s one of their talking points.
Yeah it was stated in the state of the union too
Obvious follow up question: if Canada becomes the 51st state, wouldn’t that remove the barriers that is keeping all that imaginary fentanyl out of the US?
Do journalists even have brains any more?
I imagine they think the military occupation required will solve the problem.
She said Canada could avoid the tariffs by “becoming the 51st state”
utterly deranged
I thought it was common knowledge already by that point. He wants Canada’s resources and strategically advantageous geographical location.
The US government is broke. The spending and debt are out of control and their political system has become too dysfunctional to fix it intelligently. He hopes that annexing Canada and exploiting its resources unhindered by regulation will magically solve the problem.
Canadians, do not fall for it. Trump wants you to work in his mines.
Hitler did the same
That’s the stupid part, we’re not broke. We’re not bogged down with debt, we own the debt, we’re overspending on American business and economic output, just because we spend money and have national debt dosen’t mean we are collapsing, out corporate stock market based economy needs infinite growth, so gov spending is going to ALSO always go up. That’s really basic shit. He isn’t fixing a desperate problem, he’s looting the fucking country and hoping he gets it all done in time for a Russian airline loaded with gold to take him safely home.
Listen, Canadians are very, very aware that we’re Poland in 1936 right now.
We are literally begging Americans to wake the fuck up and realise this too, and hopefully stop this insanity before it gets that far.
Just absolutely let us know what we can do we are eager for anything

Remember that small acts of resistance build big acts of resistance. Every time someone stands up, a few more people stand up next time. Don’t sit around waiting for “the revolution” or “the general strike” or whatever other thing feels “big enough” to you. At that point you might as well just be waiting for the rapture. You build heaven one brick at a time.
And equally importantly, getting involved in the small acts of resistance gets you connected to the people who are doing things. The first part of organized resistance is organizing and that’s never going to happen by sharing a meme or two. You need to get into the Signal chats, and the person to person networks where the real action is being talked about, mostly offline. So signing up to protest against book removals at your local n library might not feel like “doing enough” but it’s how you get started. Things will move from there.
Search around for any kind of leftist resistance happening in your area, no matter how small. Get involved at the local level. It will make a difference.
We won’t. We will bitch and moan and go to work while the military makes encroachments on your land.
I will be doing fun experiments, in Minecraft.
He doesn’t give the first damn about the United States balance sheet. He does about his own enrichment.
And his legacy. He wants to be remembered as some great dealmaking king that made deals to get America more states…
If there is one thing I can promise you, it’s that you don’t have to tell Canadians not to fall for it. Annexation is a non starter, there is literally no argument that could be given regardless of validity. The fact that any promises are obvious lies is wholly irrelevant.
A LOT to unpack here:
A. The U.S. government is broke!? That is one of the dumbest takes I’ve seen in a while. Makes it difficult to take any other part of your post seriously.
Currently run by fascist morons that my fellow fascist citizens elected, yes. Broke, not fucking remotely true.
B. No one takes it seriously that he is going to somehow magically take over Canada. He says that shit because he is either so stupid, he actually believes he can, or is just saying it to get under Canadian’s skin. (Probably both).
C. “Canada’s strategically advantageous geographical location.”. What strategic importance does Canada’s location have? We already have Alaska. Is there some secret shipping lanes, or laser polar bears we don’t know about?
Resources? Your shale sands oil sucks and has to be piped to the US anyway, to be processed.
You have a lot of wood I guess? We have a TON of resources here, it’s just been cheaper to mine elsewhere because environmental law, makes it pretty expensive to exploit. He’s in the process of gutting those.
Canada just needs to keep doing what it is doing and tell us to fuck off. (Kind of like what we both do to our indigenous populations.)
He’ll eventually drive our economy into the dirt, and fuck over the dumbass blue color voters (that he supposedly champions), and maybe, just maybe, the Democrats will get behind a true progressive instead of a Susan Collins, Hillary Clinton type cunt.
Well I would argue that looking at the USA’s Debt to Liquidity ratio you can see we are definitely in the red.
And guess who owns most of that debt and who keeps buying more?
One of the many countries he’s antagonizing and slapping tariffs on. Why would they keep supporting him by buying more debt? And why wouldn’t they start demanding some of it back. When the US defaults on a payment then all hell breaks loose in the US economy.
Actually the US owns most of the debt. That’s part time of the reason it’s not seen as risky as theyre effectively and iou to themselves.
https://usafacts.org/articles/which-countries-own-the-most-us-debt/
B: It doesn’t matter how noncredible a plan it is. Trump has pulled every lever he can to do what he wants unhindered by anyone with a functioning brain and now he wants to annex the country by trying to destroy its economy, even if it doesn’t succeed at annexing the country, he will still damage Canada’s economy.
C: Canada controls the Northwest passage and is the key to controlling the Arctic. By itself it is forecast to become a viable and profitable shipping route thanks to global warming. It is about to become a huge economic lever against China’s exports. There is a reason why Trump wants to control the Panama canal again as well.
D: Resources: There is a vast wealth of minerals and potentially undiscovered oil about to become cheaply accessible once the North opens to shipping. There is also a huge reserve of fresh water that the US covets.
There is a reason why Russia is pushing to take control of the North. Even China made claims that they are a “near arctic state” which is laughable, but clearly indicates that they want to throw their hat into the ring to gain access to the wealth that buried below ground there.
The Northwest passage?!??
Now I know you are just trolling.
Why do you think Panama and Canada came up on the same day. Yea, Northwest Passage.
Thank you for clearly outlining the depth of your analysis.
I looked it up and you are clearly delusional that this “Northwest Passage” is some kind of major shipping lane or has any real value at all.
It wasn’t even clear of ice until 2009 and is reported to be as shallow as 15’ in many parts.
Keep building this fantasy of yours. It is entertaining.
I think the Northwest Passage being referred is the Elizabeth Islands which is a geographical choke point not unlike the Strait of Malacca. If the Arctic sea ice fully melts then it’ll be a very important location to control traffic going to and from the Eastern Seaboard. The only way around coming from Russia is to go East of Greenland. Trump wants Canada and Greenland to act as a shield against Russia and to a lesser extent, China.
If that’s his goal (big if) that’s the stupidest way possible. Could’ve literally asked they probably would’ve. Also if that’s his goal why is he simultaneously removing the Russian embargo. This is all also ignoring that krasnov is a Russian asset
The US already has a deal with Denmark basically allowing them unlimited presence on Greenland. A takeover changes nothing except now there’s no “buffer state” between the US and Russia.
“Is that how the US will be treating all of their allies from now on?”
Would have been an important follow up question.
Shocking how few of these there are. Where the hell is the White House Press Corps? Don’t answer that I know they don’t really exist anymore and haven’t for close to two decades now.
Haven’t they been saying that shit for like three weeks now?
Yeah, but they’ve been claiming it was just a joke.
We know better, of course, but that was what they were pretending.
Not that any of this is sensible or reasonable, but… why? Why is there any obsession at all with adding Canada as a state? Where did this idea even come from and for what purpose?
Why is there any obsession at all with adding Canada as a state?
Because Trump is trying to do to Canada what Putin is doing to Ukraine. Why? Because taking over a major food supply source is where the money will be at (because global warming is slowing expanding the hot zones north and southwards).
Add to that Canada’s almost unlimited fresh water supply, lots of spare hydro electricity, a fair amount of rare earth minerals, a large oil source, and a huge portion of the Arctic region (that will soon be ice-free).
I also wouldn’t be surprised if he just wanted to conquer an independent nation just for like chest-bumping, wanna-be strongman reasons.
This is more likely. These vast conspiracies like the one you replied to are giving him too much credit. The guys just not that well thought out.
Water, rare earth minerals, other natural resources, labor
And control of all this water, important strategically for Russia, I mean the USA. And Russia.
This one image really brings the whole situation into perspective.
Shhh! Don’t spoil Trump’s War On Christmas plan to drone strike Santa Claus!
Is… There still any ice in the Arctic?
Yes. It’s not actually all blue water like it looks here. But there’s less and less, and Russia has ice breakers that can deal with a certain amount of ice. Arctic shipping routes are becoming more useful and valuable as the Arctic warms.
Trump sees himself as an emperor. He wants to expand the empire and claim that as his legacy. Simple as that.
I’ve been hearing Americans “joke” about Canada becoming the 51st state all my life. The fact that there’s a country on the same land-mass as them, who’s people largely speak the same language as them and who has a similar culture to them but doesn’t want to be part of their country runs counter to the “Greatest Country in the World” propaganda that they’ve been indoctrinated with since childhood.
Most of the time, however, the politicians elected to high office are educated enough to know why annexing Canada would be a bad idea, but Trump’s mentality never evolved beyond the schoolyard, and those are the ideas that he’s bringing to the White House.
Yanks have always been upset we didn’t join them way back. That and they cannot let go of manifest destiny.
IDK, man. Indiana born and raised, and I’ve never in my life have I even heard about the notion or desire to have Canada merge with the US. It seemingly came out of nowhere and now a ton of idiots are acting like it’s genius and even an absolutely imperative now.
But other expanding the US’s land and people, and eliminating another sovereign state, what would even be different? Is the expansion the point itself, some weird compulsion to gain control of our neighbors? Or is there some other motivation? It’s probably oil isnt it… it’s always oil.
what would even be different?
So this sounds like ignorant American exceptionalism. Stuff that fucking noise.
YOU may not have heard it (and I can’t link sources), but I have in modern media and from dipshits on the internet.
So this sounds like ignorant American exceptionalism. Stuff that fucking noise.
That is certainly not what I meant, nor is American Exceptionalism a sentiment I hold. I meant that we already enjoyed free trade between our countries before Trump. Already share resources back and forth. Already have closely related cultures and history. Already have military joint operations. Canada has been our closest ally for centuries. Becoming a state, then, doesn’t seem like it would make a ton of differences that the average US citizen would want or even see on the whole. I can see where a narcissist like Trump wants to bully people, take control, be a dictator, etc. But it would make as much direct difference to my life as losing Iowa to the Portuguese would. Obviously if you are in Canada (or Iowa) and suddenly belong to a new county, that will make a make huge difference to you. But if you’re a Tennessean tobacco farmer, why do you think it’s really important that Canada joins the US? They certainly seem to all of the sudden. That is what I meant by “what would even be different?”
He didn’t mean for Canadians but Americans.
what would even be different?
The Republicans would immediately become unelectable, for starters, because you’d be adding a lot of population that skews much further left politically than any part of the US. And most of us would be extremely pissed off.
On our side, we’d be getting issues we really do not want with health care (and social services in general) and with gun control.
It would likely all end in guerilla warfare. Or worse. Overall, it’s a bad deal for both sides.
he did say that Canada would be annexed with no representation… so no worries about left shift… also think that whatever party would be in power that surrenders to POTUS47 would immediately become local unelectable pariah, considering polls currently it’d be Libs. So the pressure is rather to push for Cons… what they can’t comprehend is that Canada is not US and it creates some serious pusback
The US could not stop us from committing mass voter fraud. A large percentage of the Canadian population consists of English-speaking white people with accents that are pretty much the same as a large swathe of the United States—the group of people that receive the least scrutiny in most parts of the US. It’s unlikelly they would even be questioned when attempting to vote. (That’s also what makes potential guerilla warfare so messy.)
FWIW, I first heard about manifest destiny in history class at my Canadian elementary school.
Well, yeah, they taught us the same concept in history class too. Obviously, American expansionism is not new. But I have never heard a single modern day person talk about America annexing sovereign countries until now. The closest thing was turning some of our territories like Puerto Rico into official states.
My presumption is that the goal is to establish one homogeneously plutocratic and oligarchic landmass, broken up only by the Bering Strait, running all the way from Florida to Eastern Europe.
Under the hypothesis that Russia influences Trump, the point is to drive a wedge between the USA and all other Western democracies, the same way it attempts to create conflict between factions within the USA and other democratic nations.
O&G, water, lumber. You name it
She is as dumb as she looks
It always feels like they have real reporters in the seats at these things, and a bunch of younger reporters asking softball scripted questions standing around.
Am I the only one that feels this way?
“President Musk needs ALL the rare minerals required for electronics”
No use in being a us ally.
What else would a narcissistic megalomaniac want?
What about Mexico? Could Mexico become the 52nd state? Lol.
Thankfully, Mexico is probably safe due to racism. They thought about stealing all of Mexico when the US invaded in 1846, but decided not to because all the brown people.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_of_Mexico_Movement
On the other hand, Canada…
Right, buy the US can just Gaza all of my mexicano to Paraguay. And then the orange turd can build a huge paradize for white people. It will be an indoor thing, we all know white people can’t be outside too long or they cook. Kinda of like us brown people up in the north, we need tanning lights to get vitamin D or we go flat and puff away.
They already got half of it in the 1800s. 1900s were busy times. The 2000s are for northern expansion: Canada and Greenland. God bless Donald Trump /s.
Maybe if we do the rain dance. Like George Carling said… Does it rain during practice?
What about puerto Rico, Samoa, Guam and the Virgin Islands?
So 56 then?
Wouldn’t that be amazing? All this blatant racism and hatred of Mexican people and suddenly they all end up citizens? That would be wild. I’m sure that’s why they’re not saying it. Though I would wager it wouldn’t take long for them to justify the annexing of the territory without giving citizenship to the people there.
Yeah… OK Mexico is the USA now…you got 24 hrs to leave! Sounds really familiar.
