    A good rule for this is just focusing anywhere imside the “triangle” of someone’s face (2 eyes and mouth), and making eye contact when you feel comfortable.

    That’s why I look just off to their side lol. It’s hard enough to listen without getting distracted by a stray thought without having to worry about eye contact

      Same! I’ve recently given up on trying to maintain eye contact and have found I communicate much better now.

    I know this is a thing people think about, but in most settings I just go 100% eye contact and don’t really think twice and I’ve never had any bad experiences with that. If someone gets uncomfortable with prolonged eye contact they’re welcome to look away. If you’re thinking about it I guarantee you’re overthinking it.
