Yeah that photo of the trail looks so dang good, makes it suck to have to work on Monday.

Is there a number on the break even point where it’s better for the environment to buy a new EV than to keep driving an old ICE vehicle? I bike most days when I don’t need to buy more than a backpack of groceries or go more than 3 miles. Surely when you consider the carbon cost of refining materials and constructing a whole new vehicle, it doesn’t make sense in most situations for people who drive less than 30 minutes a day on average. This is of course assuming you have a current vehicle, new vehicles should have to be hybrid/EV in the modern era.
Still more of a sport than esports
Yeah a lot of people love their car or truck more than anything else in life. Which is crazy when you think there’s such a high risk of it being totaled at a moments notice with normal usage.
I bought a Hisense and it had the option during setup to disable most smart features and leave it in “basic mode”. I was already going to put an Apple TV in it so I just left it there and I’ve been happy. Only thing a tv needs is settings and the ability to change inputs.
How is it different from writing how you feel in a journal at night?
Looks cozy as hell. I’m just waiting for things to cool down more in my neck of the woods so I can get out without being drenched in sweat while I sleep.
I totally agree, the directions apple maps gives are much more Human-like compared to google maps. Google maps is really bad about telling you turn in .25 miles or 200 feet, which in most of the gnarly infrastructure of America is nearly worthless. Apple Maps is better about letting you know to turn at the next stoplight or past the stop sign, which is what a regular person would do. Additionally, apple maps doesn’t constantly harass and scream at you when your on the interstate for 75 miles like google maps does.
Yeah I’m in the same bucket. Once libreddit dies, I’m off Reddit for good. I still like to browse some of the communities that aren’t fully established on Lemmy yet there and libreddit is he only thing that makes it palatable. I can’t stand reddit deciding to only show you the first comment in a chain of 30 and asking you to log in to see the rest.
I feel like most pour over cones will work. I use a V60 (the plastic variety) and there’s no way I could foresee it breaking outside of being an idiot.
Better voice to text. I’ve been acting like a boomer a lot more recently by dictating things into text fields and judging from the accuracy of the LLM models like whisper, I could seriously see myself using voice to text for everything that doesn’t need to be spelled out.

That second generation model is expected to cost hundreds of dollars less than the first one. It’s expected to be released in 2025.
Won’t have me complaining, there’s no way I’m willing/able to pay $3500 for a device like this, but a smaller supply due to manufacturing during the first year or two will still have the same effect of establishing a market and ironing out the kinks before its more mainstream.
I think you hit the nail on the head. Most of the previous exodus were in waves of certain unsavory subreddits getting banned. This one is a little more balanced because the policy against third party apps is much broader in terms of who it affects, if anything it’s selecting for more tech-minded individuals who were the ones using/caring about the third party apps in the first place. There’s no real saying though if this is the great leap with reddit truly going down in flames, or if things will carry on as usual over there for normies and this becomes a splinter community for a slightly different demographic.
Yeah I heard about Lemmy from Mental Outlaw so this is my first real dip into the fediverse. I’m hoping it fosters a more diverse array of hobby centered communities than reddit, since the latter has started to feel more homogenous over time.
I also have had the heihox one for over a year now. My only gripe with it is the wooden ball is attached magnetically, and the magnet has weakened over time where the ball will go flying off if it gets bumped. It doesn’t affect the daily use, but you just have to be a little more cognizant about it. Also I do not brew espresso so I don’t know if it could go that fine, but for pour-over, aero press, and French press it does a pretty kick ass job.
Looks like the kind of house where you are always at risk of knocking something over or splitting your head over if you ever trip
I voted for Harris walz, but I think a lot of this is the fault of Biden for trying to run for reelection and sticking it out until July. I live in the south and I think the lack of a primary reallly hurt the ticket because a sizable portion of the people I’ve talked to felt like she was appointed instead of being elected, which is a bad move when public trust in our institutions is already at an all time low.
