It’s the social panopticon. But the point of the panopticon is that no one is really watching. What we feel on our eyes is the abstract eye of ideology, which constantly tries to constrain our souls and bodies into well defined (and inaccurate) frames so that we will be compliant.

DEFY THE EYE CLAIM YOUR IDENTITY THE GRESTEST BATTLE IS IN OUR MIND

Ok but then why does my neighbour joke about the fun party night when I’m coming home from a night shift. And why does a random friend of my mums that I only know by sight tell my mum when I am and I am not home.

They are pathetic servants of the panipticon, so caught up in the way they feel the eyes that they enact it in the hopes to quell the monsters they are scared of. Defy them. Give them something they don’t want to talk about. Or run away, or ignore whatever useless things they shit from their mouth. There are many tools, don’t let the bastards grind you down

The first neighbor obviously has no idea how you really spent the night, is only living their dream of late-night parties through seeing you come home as they leave for work.

The random friend may be able to see your lights go on, and your mum may want to know you’re alive and safe without bothering you. Mums start that the first night their baby sleeps in another room and it continues their whole life. Most of us don’t have that neighbor friend and just have to hope our kids text us once in awhile. I hope your mum lets you live your life without judgement. And I hope the random friend would let you know if something happened to your mum.

People need to get less creepy hobbies than neighbour stalking. Like, god, if you’re that bored, go watch YouTube or smth.

Won’t this get me into trouble?

Worst thing I imagine: someone calls the police.

Just imagine you are a rebel in an dictatorship. Find the small shadows where your light can safely hide in. Share that light with those who cherish yours, and little by little, our flame will burn the enemy’s poison

What do you mean? I checked my doorbell camera and you always leave house at around 8 am and return around 5.30 pm, nothing out of the ordinary? /s
