Russian warship: “Snake Island, I, Russian warship, repeat the offer: put down your arms and surrender, or you will be bombed. Have you understood me? Do you copy?”

Ukrainian 1 to Ukrainian 2: “That’s it, then. Or, do we need to fuck them back off?”

Ukrainian 2 to Ukrainian 1: “Might as well.”

Ukrainian 1: “Russian warship, go fuck yourself.

Best part, that Russian warship was the Moskva. Pictured top-left, with the red X through it.

One of my favorite memes on the subject came from Sputnik_not “update: the fire is out” [picture of the ship underwater]

I was wondering if this was similar to the Baltic Fleet and going down the comments looking for a reference. Lemmy did not disappoint

Youtuber Perun joked this week that the Houthis had done more to disrupt international shipping than the Russians had done in the Black Sea.

Months for a single boat if your logistics are top tier. Years otherwise.

For the tonnage crossed of this list, easily close to a decade to replace.

easily close to a decade to replace.

For a nation with the money and manpower to actually build them. Not ones that can only afford to upcycle 5 fossils each decade with a new gun/missile silo and (maybe) coat of paint.

Rust can be protective. There’s brown rust, orange rust, fast rust, slow rust. Wire wheels are expensive.

Anyway, like I was sayin’, rust is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, sauté it. Dey’s uh, rust-kabobs, rust creole, rust gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There’s pineapple rust, lemon rust, coconut rust, pepper rust, rust soup, rust stew, rust salad, rust and potatoes, rust burger, rust sandwich. That- that’s about it.

Yeah I’m pretty sure haven’t built a surface combatant larger than a frigate since the fall of the USSR.

They might have had a second aircraft carrier by now if they’d finished the one left in Ukraine at the collapse in 91. But for better or worse they sold the hulk (and the plans) to China in '99. It’s possible the Kuznetsov is in such a state because the sold the only copy of the plans

Irony a lot of these were built in Soviet Ukraine, so nice to see them laid to rest in their home 🥰

With no fleet left they don’t need the black sea ports anymore and can get the fuck out of Crimea, right?

I like to imagine at least one of these remaining ships probably doesn’t even exist and is just a big embezzlement. It would be par for the course with Russia.
