    Ukraine set a SMART goal.

    • Specific - they intend to destroy an oil refinery with a missile
    • Measurable - there are a countable number of oil refineries in Russia
    • Actionable - sending a missile can destroy oil refineries
    • Relevant - Russia having oil refineries is bad
    • Time-oriented - Ukraine can launch missiles to destroy oil refineries any time

Just Stop Oil did not set a SMART goal.

    • Specific - Unclear what they will throw onto which painting, and when they will throw it
    • Measurable - How do they measure a successful tomato juice throw?
    • Actionable - Anybody can throw tomato juice.
    • Relevant - Unclear how throwing tomato juice onto paintings is relevant to climate change
    • Time-oriented - has no plan for when to throw tomato juice

Make of this information what you will

Wow, a SMART goal joke. Don’t believe the negative Nancies. Lemmy is different from Reddit.

I wonder if some environmental orgs/charities would be able to throw some money to Ukraine for the use of oil refinery destruction.

They already have quite specific giving options. I’m pretty sure they would be happy to add a “destroy oil refinery output” one.

The relevance is that oil companies can ruin the planet forever and nobody cares, while someone can temporarily take a painting off display and the entire world calls for their heads

Like, imagine if people reacted to oil spills with the same vitriol and hatred that they react to someone tossing some tomato juice on a pane of glass

I seem to recall a statistic about Russia’s monthly or yearly oil seepage from their pipelines being greater than the deepwater horizon spill. It’s terrifying to think about how much contamination there must be globally from similar nation-states or corporations who simply lack any concern. People should be losing their minds. Maybe if we had crucified the exxon incident waaaaay back when…

I’ve joked for years leftists never accomplish anything because they don’t set smart goals.

Thank you for helping me let my coworkers know I’m not working right now.

Ukraine should have a just stop oil fund raiser.

Raise some money. Blow up an oil refinery and say it was just stop oils funding. Will be loads of media attention and good for both sides.

It’s because paintings exhibited in museums are covered by glass, so they know it won’t cause any lasting damage.

Yeah, that fact is being left out by the media outlets who also happen to have oil companies as a major sponsor during their ad breaks. They’re also putting them on blast whenever they target a painting, but not when they target some CEO’s car.
